Socio Legal Project
Researching Legal Impact on Society through Empirical Methods
Socio-Legal Research Initiative
LL.M students undertake a socio-legal project every year on contemporary social, legal, and economic problems with a view to assess the efficacy and impact of law on society. This fosters analytical and research skills while evaluating legal effectiveness. The project is based on non-doctrinal (empirical) research methods. Students are expected to be familiar with social science research techniques and basic research skills for conducting field research and preparing research designs. They are required to process and interpret data gathered through these empirical surveys in select areas of law, as assigned by the Supervisor in consultation with the Head of the Department.
