Our Legacy

Smt. Velagapudi Durgamba Siddhartha Law College, Vijayawada is a renowned and leading centre of Legal Education and Research in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Established in 1987 by the Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education in Vijayawada and renamed in honor of Smt. Velagapudi Durgamba, wife of renowned industrialist and philanthropist, Velagapudi RamaKrishna. The Institution has always been at the forefront of promoting quality legal education, producing an appreciable number of successful lawyers, law officers, judges, law teachers and legal scholars who have made significant contributions to the discipline of law.

Affiliated to Krishna University, A.P and recognized by the Bar Council of India, the institution offers U. G, P. G and Ph.D programmes in the discipline of law and has been a beacon of legal education in Andhra Pradesh for over three decades. With permanent recognition from the Bar Council of India and Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, the college has been ranked as one of the top private law colleges in the State of Andhra Pradesh. At Siddhartha, it has always been our relentless endeavour to mould and shape the future legal professions to cater to the changing needs of the society and further impart proper training to them in order to transform them as social engineers. Our campus encompassing a total area of 10,674 square meters is situated on the National Highway No: 9 in Kanuru village, in a sprawling premises in the city of Vijayawada, which is proximate to the capital of State of Andhra Pradesh.

Innovative Teaching Methods & Academic Excellence

We always believe in the blending of theory with practice so as enable the student to apply his/her learning to real life situations to enhance capacity building of students. We design, adopt and implement diverse methodologies and which include inter-alia: class teaching, group teaching, moot court sessions, case studies, legal clinics, internships etc., to give varied and vast experience and exposure to our students to grasp and deduce different facets of law and the gap between the law on the text and the law. Apart from all this, we also motivate and encourage our students to apply their learning for the betterment of the society. The College has been organising a National level Legal Fest. which consists of competitions in aspects like Moot Courts, Legal Quiz etc. by inviting teams from law colleges across the country.

Thus, the college maintains a holistic education approach and strives to groom approximately 1050 students every year as professionally competent and socially responsive legal professionals with the help of its state-of-the-art infrastructure, scholarly faculty and excellent academic ambience. Our faculty includes experienced legal scholars, practitioners, and experts. Our curriculum integrates real-world scenarios and contemporary legal issues, preparing students for the complexities of the legal profession.
